Why Hydrogen with Edison NEXT
Edison NEXT is the strategic partner for businesses and territories in the development of integrated projects for decarbonisation through green hydrogen: from the production of renewable energy to be used to power electrolysers, to the production, storage and transport of green hydrogen (green gas), up to supply for industrial use and the mobility sector. We support our customers through the skills we have acquired in more than 30 years of experience in energy and environmental services, and by leveraging the know-how of the Edison Group, an integrated operator along the entire value chain. We operate following the principle of technology neutrality, providing the latest technologies needed to meet the challenge of adopting green H2. Our business model covers the entire green H2 value chain and includes direct investment in initiatives.
For industry
Green hydrogen can be used as an element for the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate industrial sectors such as glass, ceramics, steel, paper and chemical-pharmaceuticals. We develop projects for the production of green H2 that can be used - either as a replacement or in blending with natural gas - as an energy carrier to meet energy needs for thermal consumption, or as feedstock in production processes that today use hydrogen produced from fossil fuels.
For transport
Green hydrogen is especially suitable for use in heavy transport, rail, ship and air transport, and suburban public transport, areas where electric mobility is not an effective solution. We develop infrastructure projects along European TEN-T corridors and on major national transport networks, building green H2production plants and refuelling stations. We also realise infrastructures for logistics operators to decarbonise their fleets.
Green Hydrogen Valley
Hydrogen Valleys are cutting-edge projects that aim to develop integrated energy hubs within a territory by creating an ecosystem that connects green hydrogen production plants with end users, in order to contribute to the decarbonisation of both industry and transport. A Hydrogen Valley starts from local needs and leverages local synergies to create value and sustainable growth from an economic, social and environmental perspective. Edison NEXT is involved in the development of the Puglia Green Hydrogen Valley project, which encompasses the provinces of Brindisi and Taranto with the aim of decarbonising Puglia's industrial sector, and especially the steel industry.
The green hydrogen supply chain
Hydrogen is a 100% emission-free green gas because it generates no CO2 either during its production or during its use. The synthesis of green hydrogen takes place through the process of electrolysis of water in plants powered by renewable energy, while its use - either in combustion or in fuel cell engines - releases only water vapour into the atmosphere.

Comprehensive combined solutions
Edison NEXT offers various solutions in tandem with its green hydrogen offering to complete the energy transition journey.
