The customer

Edison NEXT led one of the biggest production facilities in Italy belonging to a leading international player in the automotive sector facing the challenge of economic and environmental sustainability in its ecological transition journey.

The requirement

Reduction of energy spending and CO2 emissions by the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in a large industrial shed without modifying existing plants but guaranteeing constant comfort and suitable temperatures in the workplace.

Reduction of consumption
Reduce the energy consumption and CO2 emissions of the HVAC system
Comfort
Guarantee comfort and suitable temperatures
Efficiency
Boost system efficiency without modifying existing plants

The solution

After thorough analysis carried out alongside the customer, Edison NEXT designed and implemented a digital monitoring and dynamic control system for the building’s HVAC plants. The solution involved the installation of sensors and actuators on the plants, software for displaying and handling data and the use of machine learning algorithms for adaptative and predictive regulation.

Results

Thanks to the technologies deployed, we obtained appreciable savings in thermal and electric energy and guaranteed round the clock remote control using the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence.
